November

Why has it come down to blogging the month?! It's a lot busier taking care of a munchkin then people realize, or I realized.  Although, I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Madelynn started the teething process this month, and oh, what a joy it is! We picked up a Sophie in effort to help, and it seemed to help!

Madelynn also noticed the TV for the first time, and LOVED watching it. I know this makes me sound like a terrible parent but she will sit in front of Yo Gabba Gabba and Mickey's Playhouse for the entire half hour, without making a sound!  It's great when I need to get something done, but I always feel bad afterwards for having my 3 month old sit in front of the TV!

She doesn't look to miserable to me though...

We went to Colorado to visit Jawad's brother, fiance and son.  We had a great time, but it was COLD.  Not much snow, but definitely COLD!

First trip on an airplane!

Staying warm.

We had a great time visiting in Colorado!

We were home less then 48 hours when Maddie got sick and started throwing up.  By the end of Tuesday she could not keep ANYTHING down.  I called the off hour doctor who told us to take her to the ER.  So we jumped in the car and headed that way.  When we got there they tried to get her to take some Pedyalite and although it was a nightmare to try and get her to take it (she's never had anything but breastmilk) she finally did.  Then about 20 minutes later, spit up everything she had taken down.  The doctor said they were going to have to admit her so she could be monitored and given an IV to keep her hydrated.  Mother's worst nightmare! The hospital we were at, however, did not have a pediatric unit so they had to take us by ambulance to another hospital in Anaheim where she would stay the night.  Apparently, when you are transferring hospitals, you cannot take your own car- such a big scene!  She was a champ through it all, and I was the one who was a mess! Even cried when they gave her the IV.  The hospital told us once we got there they would need to run some tests to find out why she wasn't keeping anything down, but to expect to stay about 24 hours, which would have put us till midnight the night before Thanksgiving.  She did so well however, that at 9am the next morning, the doctor came in, checked her out and released us! She came down with a virus (most likely on the plane) that needed to run its course and leave her system.  She has been drinking the pedyalite regularly and feeling much better!

Thanksgiving!
I decided this year, it would be so much easier to have Thanksgiving at our house so we would not have to tote Maddie all over town to the different Thanksgivings we normally go to.  It was quite a bit of work, but well worth it in the end.

Or maybe she is my first Thanksgiving Turkey :)

All in all, it was a great month and I can't believe my baby is already 4 months old!

Quick thought of the day...

I just laid Maddie down for a nap in her crib, still awake, so I could throw in a quick load of laundry. I was expecting her to cry and for me to have to go pick her up when I was done, but instead I came back to her room and she put herself to sleep.

I am officially ready for number 2.

October!

What a month! We have been quite busy this month, what with pumpkins and all...
Apparently pumpkins rot immediately after being carved if you get them at the BEGINNING of October.  I was very excited to take Maddie to the Pumpkin Patch so I insisted that we go the first week of the month.  We had a great time and Maddie got to see all kinds of things she had never seen before.

Animals...

Pumpkins...

Horse Rides...

Duckies! (She loved them!)

We waited till the week before Halloween to carve them, but it still didn't seem to matter :( They rotted about 24 hours after they were carved.

Although we had a FANTASTIC time with them anyway!

Getting ready...

We made pumpkin seeds...

She didn't care much for the feel of mushy pumpkin...

But she loved the way her hands taste..

We didn't even get a picture of our pumpkins before we had to throw them out :( Maybe next year I will be able to contain my excitement and wait till the end of the month like everyone else.

The Saturday night before Halloween we went to Tracie's Halloween party.  We also celebrated her Dad's 50th Birthday! We had a blast, and Maddie did great at her first real "party".

Tracie and Maddie

I did a terrible job of taking pictures on Halloween.  We went Trick or Treating with some friends and Maddie had a great time, but these are the only two pictures I took... Terrible Mom!
Little Ladybug..

I think this might be our first Family Picture... Someone is always behind the camera..

On to November... And hopefully more Blog posts.

2 months..

I am so far behind in blogging... Perhaps a 10 week old will do that to you??

I can't believe what a personality this little one has. She is so spunky and I love it!

In other news I can say that she is officially sleeping through the night now... Maybe I should knock on wood, but even 3 or 4 nights a week is all I really need to feel like a human being, so I will take it! We had her 2 month old pictures taken, and although they have nothing on her newborn shots, I am very happy with how they turned out.

Can't wait to get the rest...

We also went to Disneyland.  Maddie's first time! Unfortunately they were closed for a private Halloween party, but we did enjoy the night at California Adventure.
I don't think she minded too much...

I'm just bummed we couldn't get her some mickey minnie ears.  We will have to go back again soon!

KJ Bentley

Mr. Bentley was never my english teacher, I was never his aid, and I did not wrestle or play softball.  I should have never even known who he was.  Yet I do.

I was in his mothers 2nd grade class at Culverdale.  1 year later Westpark opened and we transferred over.  My brother was then in his wife's 1st grade class.  Who would have guessed? I think my mom found a bond is his wife after having a member of the family teach both my brother and myself.  They remained friends for several years as her children were the same age as Bobby was.

Fast forward to high school.

He was not my teacher, I can't even name any of my english teachers- If only I had Mr. Bentley maybe I would have felt different.  I can name Math teachers who touched me, as it was never a strong subject and always required additional help beyond what the hour long class had to offer. Maybe it was just that english class came easy to me, and I never paid much attention. What ever the reason, I never crossed paths with him my first 3 years of high school.

My senior year, Bobby came in as a freshman, and what seemed like immediately started wrestling on the Varsity team. His coach was KJ Bentley.  He was an amazing coach, always so kind, and patient.  Never one to lose a temper or get upset. He was a cornerstone in my brothers life and his entire family was close to ours- Jill and Katie (his daughters) were close in age to Bobby and it allowed my mom to find a close friendship in Mary (his wife).  My grandfather even drew a bond with KJ through my brothers wrestling.
It was truly an amazing connection of two families.

He was 46 years old and in what he probably thought was the best health of his life.  He was found in his classroom at lunch time by a student.  He had a heart attack and died.  I can't imagine saying goodbye to your husband in the morning, and him never coming home.  He and his wife had built a life together, raised 2 daughters, and just like that, he is gone.  He was an amazing man, who touched thousands of lives, and even though I did not know him well, he touched mine.  He is gone but will never be forgotten.

Rest in Peace Mr. Bentley.

My Madelynn...

Love of my life!

A few stats for a Wednesday Morning

7 weeks 2 days old

11 pounds 1 ounce

23 inches

It's hard to believe that just 7 weeks ago you were in my belly...

A few things we have learned about each other-
You LOVE to smile at your Daddy
Ceiling Fans and Lights amaze you
Every night at about 9pm you want to be walked around the house.  You know when I try and sit down.
When we are in the car you get very upset while sitting at a red light.  You are happy as can be when the car is in motion.
You are NOT a morning person- Wonder where you get that from?
You love your mommy- If someone else is holding you and you are fussy, I can take you and you will calm right down (I love that about you)
You are the most amazing little girl I have ever met, and can't wait to learn more about you each and every day.

The things no one tells you about having a baby...

No one ever told me that I would walk around the house singing nursery rhymes all day long... Seriously.

No one ever told me that my house would be taken over by toys before she even really knows they are there...

People told me that I would get less sleep, but no one ever told me that I would get NO sleep...

No one ever told me that I won't care AT ALL that my house is a disaster...

No one ever told me that having an infant in the house would be this exhausting....

No one ever told me that having an infant in the house would be this amazing...

No one ever told me that I would fall more in love than I ever thought possible with the smallest person I have ever met...
